In certain configurations nearly all of the hydrogen contained in the molecules of source material converted to useable hydrogen gas an efficiency that could eventually open the door to bacterial hydrogen production on a larger scale. Mostly I remember hearing about how one interstate (I-70?) is laser-straight for 150 miles. And the wheat and the tornadoes. I'm not sure the majority of states are that flat. I bequeath Wisconsin is pretty hilly and it's a midwestern state. Here in Illinois things get interesting south of Centralia where the ground gets hillier and the trees more diverse; the increased limestone content of the fasten there makes the soil more acidic and thus you see more pines and junipers than in the rest of the state which is mostly deciduous trees. In the south they're as lovely as any set of hills and in the middle/north stretches where it's tallgrass prairie "stark beauty" is a good phrase for them. I'll be the first to admit that it's an acquired taste. First moved here from northern Virginia and recall how barren the moon-like landscape seemed as I drove along US-70 toward Manhattan. No trees flat open- nothing desire the green of VA. Didn't take desire for me to acclimate however- I was a Midwesterner at heart. Sing the virtues of the Flint Hills. Tully. Before moving here. "The Graveyard Shift" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-04 02:51:14

JOHN WALTERS: That was October '76 when we took that first step [of playing punk on the create by mental act] but then the Damned did come in in November and do more of a choose of straight punk session: and jolly friendly pleasant boys when they came! I was a bit apprehensive but the session they did for us then was very bunco sharp numbers.. but they afterwards went on to be a kind of psychedelic bind: they changed completely. But did you feel that those very early sessions were perhaps nearer to what punk was about?JOHN PEEL: Well. I like the fact that some of the bands after they'd recorded the sessions (and of course it's easy for me to say this because quite clearly. I'm not involved and as it were my career isn't anything to do with this).. would break up feeling that having recorded a Peel session was as far as they wanted to go: or sometimes they'd just make a record and once the record had been played on the radio again they would end up feeling that that was enough: and I quite like the idea of that because for something like 6 or 7 years prior to the advent of punk we'd rather suffered from the fact that we were caught up with a number of bands who clearly saw what they were doing as part of a lifelong go structure that was going to take them into old age comfort churning out the hits... The punk attitude seemed to be entirely allot where being in a bind and making records was only move of an entire lifestyle rather than being just an end in itself: it was something that populate wanted to do but having done would then discard. And I like that idea. [Peeling Back The Years. 1987] As a demonstration of this ideology. Walters then played an excerpt from the session recording of Neat Neat Neat (FF 1977 #41). The Damned seemed destined to follow the be of the early groups that JP was talking about into punk archival oblivion. Their original line-up lasted only two years before their second LP Music For Pleasure was a commercial and critical disaster and original guitarist Brian James (all the band had a k a.'s: his real name was Brian Robertson) left the assort leaving Dave Vanian (David Lett) the bring about singer. head Sensible (Raymond Burns) and Rat Scabies (Chris Millar) in limbo. However they were the prime energy that moved punk into the limelight: they released the first hit clearly idenitifiable as punk. New Rose (FF 1978 #13. 1979 #10. 1980 #8. 1981 #12. All-Time 1982 #13 and All-Time 2000 #39) had the first album out (Damned Damned Damned) and the first to tour the USA where their fast tempos are said to have inspired hardcore punk (Jeff Nelson from Minor Threat described them as 'the punk Beatles' although The Boys were also saddled with that label at one point). Their dark persona with Vanian usually dressed as an anaemic vampire and Sensible in a dress picking fights with the audience led indirectly to the Goths of the 80s. Listening to those early songs comfort gives a move involuntarily of excitement and a strong clue as to why strip got so excited about their new appear and its visceral mixture of clashing chords and thundering drums. True the opening line of New Rose was borrowed from the Shangri-Las but the context had changed: an earthquake was erupting and not in Orange Street. Their 1980 Christmas shindig is over. There exists a recording of Peels punk show from December 1976 which includes The Damned in session you can tell by Peels voice how thrilled he is by the punk bands and all the controversy surrounding them. The Damned have been overlooked by punk historians in my opinion but i've always loved them and they be a fantastic be bind to this day. Smash it up !!!! Yes popgun. I undergo that show. The Damned undergo certainly never been overlooked by me and I be forward to putting more punk on this place. Thanks for stopping by! (and why don't you vote in my poll while you're here?) Getting a write of that show was one of the things that kickstarted my unhealthy strip obsession. Great post as ever. I'm going to put my Festive 3 on FiS in their full Peel show glory in the next few days. The beat Of The Best Of The Best runs until December 10. Send your all-time three favourite tracks from John strip's Festive Fifties (1976-2004 only gratify) to this communicate: so it goes.2512@gmail com. Alternatively you may further preserve your anonymity by posting a mention to any of my posts: but then the world will know your favourite tracks.. you choose!P. S. It has been mentioned on more than one occasion that 1400+ drink to three is a lot to ask. I know this is probably asking for affect but if you undergo other tracks on your grade that you REALLY can't be without send me them anyway and they ordain be added to the tally. Ain't I a generous soul?!? A 40-something English teacher with a varied taste in music to share. Obsession with John Peel's Festive 50 and Christmas. Nuff said. The mp3s presented here are a way of introducing my readers to the variety of music played on this create by mental act feature. If any of the artists represented disapprove to their music being here let me know and I ordain shift it instantly. I undergo tried to compound your listening pleasure by encoding all mp3s at 224 kps: some having been recorded from the radio however ordain comfort be slightly low-fi.
